Our Pastor
The Rev. Mark B. McFadden was born and reared in Lebanon, VA. After graduating from Lebanon High, he served in the US Army for four years, where he was a Chaplain's Assistant and a graduate of the Defense Language Institute (Spanish). His journey then led him to Lee College, where he studied Theology. The Rev. McFadden's theological education culminated in his completion of a Master of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary in May 1994. The following June, he began his first appointment at Rich Valley and Washington Chapel United Methodist Churches outside of Abingdon, VA. His other appointments have been at Chilhowie UMC, Chilhowie, VA; Norwood UMC, Knoxville; First UMC, White Pine, TN; Shady Grove UMC, Abingdon, with Camp Ahistadi (in TN); and First UMC, Galax, Va. His hobbies include reading history and theology/religion, watching foreign-subtitled movies, and traveling up and down the back roads of Appalachia.
Our First Lady
Glenna Blevins McFadden, a native of Abingdon, VA, is a woman of many talents and a dedicated educator. She is a graduate of Abingdon High School, Emory & Henry University, and the University of Virginia. Her professional journey has been marked by her commitment to education, which has taken her from the classrooms of Washington County, VA, and Hamblen County, TN, to a significant role as an on-the-road Educational Consultant for Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company in the Southeast region. Her love for nature complements her dedication to education, as she enjoys flowers, and exploring new destinations in her free time.
