“…Do you believe this?” John 11:26

“Do you believe this?” Jesus asked that question, and it is one of the most important questions that we will ever answer. Do we believe that he is the resurrection, the way, the truth and the life, the Good Shepherd, the great “I Am?” Do we believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Our life on earth and in Heaven depends on our answer. The angels themselves bend down to hear our reply.

Our answer cannot be a one time “yes,” but an ongoing everyday yes. There are times when it is like a beach ball on the tide. About the time we can grasp it; it goes back out to tease us some more. We must grab on to the “Yes” with a firm hold. Child of God, hold on to your faith until your faith holds you.

Sure, our faith is constantly being challenged; and sometimes we will slip and fall. That does not mean that we have failed. Faith isn’t about not falling, but not staying down when we do. E. Stanley Jones said, “I may fail, but I would rather fail with Jesus than succeed with anybody else, for to be with Jesus is victory.”

Do you know this wonderful old hymn?

“Faith is the victory! Faith is the Victory! O glorious victory that overcomes the world.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
